What's In a Name?

Welcome to my blog! So, now that I have officially entered the blogosphere, let me explain the name of my blog. From the moment I first laid eyes on my children, I felt God had given me a little "slice of heaven". They were the ideal examples of perfect innocence. Then, came the dose ("scoop") of reality with sleepless nights, endless diaper changes, and countless days in the beginning without showering. But, I am truly thankful for that reality because without it, my life would be missing something. These are what I now call "Pie and Ice Cream" moments.

I have found these "Pie and Ice Cream" moments throughout my life...

Growing Up:
Pie - living in an idealic tiny Texas town where life seemed perfect
Ice Cream - upon high school graduation not too much to do there.

College Years:
Pie - got the "perfect" internship with the Walt Disney World College Program
Ice Cream - needed to finish college once the program was over

Wedding:
Pie - Had my DREAM wedding and Fairy Tale honeymoon at Walt Disney World
Ice Cream - came back home to jobs and everyday life

Marriage:
Pie - married to a fantastic, faithful, loyal, and honest husband who loves me unconditionally and works hard so that I can stay home with the kids
Ice Cream - like all marriages, there is give and take to meet 1/2 way

Kids:
Pie - the giggles, smiles, hugs, kisses, and clever antics (I could go on and on)
Ice Cream - day to day grind, carpools, picking up toys, potty training, attitudes, tantrums (again, I could go on and on)

So, you may ask yourself how I came to be a blogger. Well, that is a story of "Pie and Ice Cream" in reverse. You see, as a huge Disney fan, I applied to be on the 2009 Walt Disney World Moms Panel. However, despite my efforts and the tens of thousands of other Disney fans who also applied, I didn't make it past round 1. Even though this was a huge disappointment and dose of reality, it was during this process that I was researching different Disney forums and sites (official and unofficial) and I came across a posting or two with links to blogs written by Darcie, Kim, and Heather (2008 WDW Moms Panelists). I became intrigued and inspired by each of them. At one point, I realized this could be the perfect outlet, my "slice of heaven", to share my thoughts, dreams, frustrations and disappointments (which I hope are few and far between).

So, I hope you join me on my journey of Pie and Ice Cream moments. In full disclosure, I am not a writer by trade, so please excuse me when I ramble or when I can't seem to find the right words. But one thing I hope to accomplish with each post is to give you a chance to step away from your reality (even for just a moment) and give you a chance to laugh, smile, or sometimes even think. I would also love to hear your comments, so stop by anytime!

Okay, so you're off and running! Good luck. Can't wait to hear more!

Not sure I ever read this before. Very creative!! I've spent some time this evening blog hopping. I was checking out your blog roll and visiting some of the blogs I've never read and I think my button is the one that is not showing up. I moved my photobucket stuff into files a few weeks ago, but I thought I left that one alone. Maybe not. Anyway, just wanted to let you know! Enjoy your weekend! Julie
