Today was Cate's first visit to the dentist.
I must say, I am pretty darn proud of this little girl. She did fantastic! The hygienist was so complimentary of both kids and said she rarely sees a child her age not have any fear going into it. It may be in part to the fact that since she was a baby, Max has been going and the last few times, she has been upset that she doesn't get a turn, too! So, today was her chance.
She went back with no problems as they called her and Max to do X-rays. It didn't phase her in the least that I stayed in the waiting area for that portion of the appointment. After those were done, they came and got me and informed me that she would go first. I had told Max in the car that he would go first since he had done it before and he could show Cate there is nothing to be afraid of (even though she hadn't voiced any fears to begin with). However, the hygienist told me that her brother had said Cate could go first since "girls go first"!
Can I get a collective "Awwww!" Yep, my boy is a gentleman!
They counted her teeth and cleaned them up. She didn't cry or whine or wimper or gag once! In fact, when she was done, she grinned real big to show me her pearly whites.
Max went next and said all looked well with him, too. They have both been brushing really well. She said that his 6 year molars are back there and almost ready to sprout. And the news he wanted to hear...one of his bottom middle teeth is the slightest bit loose. But when I say slight...I mean it (she whispered to me that it will still be awhile before he loses it).
The most surprising news came at the end of the visit when the dentist came in and took a look at the X-rays and noticed that Cate's right middle tooth has a fracture all the way through it. As he zoomed in on the x-ray, it looked to me almost like two separate pieces (root and tooth). He asked me if she had ever fallen really bad on it. I told him that she has fallen before and busted her lip, but I never noticed the tooth to be grey or loose. He said not to worry about it but that he was surprised that it hadn't turned grey. We are just to keep an eye on it in case it does turn color or starts to bother her. Other than that, her teeth looked great!
As usual, they both got new toothbrushes and toys from the treasure chest! All in all, a success!

I am so proud of their visits to the dentist and knew they would both get good reports. We are really missing you all.
Great pictures of Cate. I am proud of her attitude at the dentist's office.
Pop, Pop
What a good girl! She is looking like such a big girl with her cute hairdo. I'm glad she had a great first visit. My youngest screamed throughout his first and second visits. He says he's going to laugh for the next one. We'll have to wait and see.
I am so glad that it went well! By the way, Cate's hair is just plain adorable!!
I hope Jayce puts on a brave face just like that; his first appointment is coming up in May. So strange about that fractured tooth. Hopefully it'll hang in there for a few more years. Kennedy's orthodontist called me back during her last visit to tell me that two of her (permanent) teeth came in backwards (flipped 180 degrees). Nothing to worry about, but weird, no?
Allison - congrats on your dentist visit. Do I recognize the door as Dr. Jeff's? I voted for boy - either way, it will be an amazing blessing! I'm SO excited for your family!
Oh yay! My son just had his first trip there and did great too - I do think it has a lot to do with watching the older ones go!
I hope her tooth doesn't turn grey or anything - that's strange she hasn't complain.
