Tiny Dancer

Cate and her dance teacher, Miss Dawn, on the last day of class

It is hard to believe that almost 10 months has passed since Cate's very first day of dance class. She was so excited and she totally took to it from that very first day.

Tomorrow is her first recital. She has been practicing her routine to the Peppermint Candy Cane song. In the last few weeks, that is our after dinner entertainment each and every night. I think she is ready to shine on stage.

We have been practicing with a little make-up...and I mean little. I heard several moms suggesting that I put some mascara on those beautiful lashes of hers to make her eyes pop. Um, I don't think so! She does, however, look precious in her hint of blush, eye shadow and lip gloss.

This morning, was dress rehearsal. I have been resting up to be able to go, so at the very least, I get to this. Evenings are usually when I have the most contractions and am uncomfortable after a long day of sitting, so I wanted to try to get to at least one performance. They practice in full costume and have their group/individual pictures taken immediately afterwards, so I figured that even if I don't get to the REAL recital, I have seen her perform. Plus, the dress rehearsal is the only time we are allowed to take pictures and video, as there is a very strict rule against it on recital day!

She was absolutely precious. I was in tears beaming with pride as she pranced around, twirled, and curtsied throughout the routine. I am so proud of our tiny dancer. If I do say so myself, I think we have found her true calling. She simply lights up when dancing for us (or any kind of performance, for that matter).

Tomorrow is the big day. We have flowers ordered and Daddy, Papa, and Max all plan to dress up and cheer on our little peppermint candy cane star! I was actually shocked to hear how excited Max was to attend when we discussed it at dinner last night. That right there is a true pie and ice cream moment! What a proud big brother he is!

So, her first year of ballet/tap may be over, but ballet camp is just a few weeks away!

OMG adorable! It so hard for the little ones to be on those big stages and she did GREAT! Lauren took the year off of dance and she is missing it now (well 9 months off anyway) after the two huge performances she needed a break! Keep that in mind as cate grows in her dancing! 2 big ones in one year could be too much!

Now I wish I had let my girls take dance when they were little. So cute!
