Good as new...well almost!

Ever since we moved into this house, there was a nasty unexplained stain on the bottom steps of our staircase. The longer it was there, the darker it got. We have tried off the shelf carpet stain removers and the steps were supposedly steam cleaned before we moved in. Nothing worked. So, recently Matt found some extra carpet pieces in the attic while putting some baby stuff away! We called a local retired carpet guy and he came out and did the repairs. He said it will eventually come up since it is pieced together, but it will work for now until we decide to replace the carpet as a whole.

Did you ever find out what the stain was? It wasn't something on the actual wood of the stair case was it? He did a great job though :)

Yeah, I'm wondering what caused the stain to begin with. Hee hee

It looks brand new. Looks like you have some nice hardwood under the carpet too.

So...the stain was there prior to us moving in. Not really sure what could have made that big of a mess in such a large area. The carpet guy replaced the padding underneath. He said that if the stain was also in the padding, it would come back through the new carpet, too!

Great job. That stain would have sent my OCD soaring. =)
