A Day to Remember

Hello, everyone! Sorry for my recent neglect on the blogfront! 2009 began with quite a lot...some good, some not so good...but, I'm back and I will definitely try to get back to my daily or at least every other daily posts again.

As many of you know, on New Year's Eve, my grandmother went on 24/7 hospice care with an "end is near" diagnosis! She passed away on January 4, which also happened to be Cate's 2nd Birthday. From now on, that day will hold even more significance. I always had a special bond with Me-Maw as I was the only granddaughter and I was the oldest. Now, my daughter will get to have a special bond with her that even I didn't have, she will forever be Cate's "Special Birthday Angel".

Even though she passed on her birthday, we decided to continue with the birthday festivities, since Cate really didn't understand and also since we all wanted to celebrate LIFE! So, without further ado, I give you Cate's 2nd Birthday Party, which had an Abby Cadabby theme. (For those of you without toddlers, Abby is the newest character on Sesame Street, and she is a fairy in training!)

The Abby Cadabby balloon marking Cate's seat!

The table decorations

Our little 2 year old!

Hanging out before the party began.

Cate and Brooke are all giggles!

The four little girls all coming down to open presents!

Doll clothes for her Bitty Twin from Max!

A Dirt Devil cleaning set to help Mommy!

Make A Wish!

Enjoying the cake!

Feeding herself with a fork...a far cry from last year's cake eating!

Delicious!

Enjoying her new Cherry Blossom Market from Nonnie and Pop-Pop!

"Welcome to my market, how can I help you?"

I turned out to be a festive and memorable day filled with laughter and smiles even though it started with sadness and tears! Happy Birthday, my sweet girl!

It looks like Cate had a great party and got some good stuff! Pickle has the Bitty twins too and that Dirt Devil was one of Teddy's fave toys ever.

I'm so sorry about your grandma though.

Oh my GOODNESS how cute is she!? Glad you went ahead with the party, and I wasn't familiar with the newest face on Sesame Street, but she is precious.

I didn't know there was a new SS character. What a cute name. Your daughter looked like she was having so much fun. I like how big brother was sitting close by to assist with the opening of gifts. btw, gave you an honest blog award over here :)

Looks like such a fun party. I will have to show Cash the pictures he likes Abby too! He turned three on Dec. 29-so hard isn't right after Christmas. It was probably really hard for you this year-I am sure your grandma was partying right along with ya'll!!
