Dust off your boots!

Today was The Boot Scoot Boogie at Max's school. Every year, they put on this program with the Kindergarteners to learn movement and exercise. The kids dress up in their best Western gear and have a hoot' hollerin' good time.

First, they do a line dance demonstrating the steps they have learned.

Then, they danced with a partner from their class. Max's partner was his "girlfriend", which he was very thrilled about. They danced the length of the basketball court and then back again, twirling their partners along the way.

Once all the partners had danced, they invited the kids to ask their parent (boys asked their moms and girls asked their dads) to join them on the "dance floor". I went down to dance with Max. He instructed me on what to do. Once we got to the white line (in center court) I was to twirl. Then, at the end of the court, we were to turn around and twirl again and go back the way we came. Do this until the music is over.

I danced about 3/4 of the song with him, when Cate wanted to cut in.

Now this was just the cutest. I had dressed her up (not intending for her to dance, but just because she wanted to wear her cowgirl shirt and hat, too), so it was just precious to see them out there dancing together.

Once it was over, we were able to check them out of school early, which was nice. He had a great time and really enjoyed showing off his "dance moves"!

This is the class Line Dance. Max is in the red shirt/white hat about 6 kids back in middle line.

They are in the middle of the pack. Max is in the white hat and she is in the pink hat with a denim skirt.

This is when Cate cut in to dance with Max.
