What Will You Celebrate?

Day 4 - (Part 1) Candy Scramble and Chef Mickey's

Going along with this year's theme at the Disney Parks, we celebrated Easter and my niece's first birthday!

Easter morning the Easter bunny visited our room before the kids came back (they were in their grandparents rooms). He left them some fun WDW goodies.
Later, our hotel hosted a Candy Scramble and the kids enjoyed getting their loot among hundreds of other children!

Then, it was off to our Easter Brunch at Chef Mickey's at Disney's Contemporary Resort. The buses were so full going to the Magic Kingdom, so we hopped on the bus for Epcot, then took the monorail to the TTC and made the transfer to the Resort Monorail. We got there with a little time to spare. We checked in and quickly our pager went off and we were escorted to the photo area for our picture. We weren't sure if he could fit all 17 us in, but he did. This is actually the only photo we have with all of us!

They seated us at two large tables and in a more secluded spot with fewer tables. Before we even had a chance to get our plates, Minnie arrived! She was so sweet and loving towards Madison. Soon after we got our plates the rest of the characters arrived. Mickey came in and sat at our table and looked through Max's very full autograph book and "acted" like he couldn't find a spot to sign. He made silly gestures for all the characters he saw in Max's book like the "cuckoo" sign for Goofy and "thumbs up" for Pluto...it was very cute. Then, Donald came in and tapped his foot "impatiently" while waiting for us to finish our pictures with Mickey! They truly acted out their characters to a "T". Max got so excited seeing Goofy and had him sign next to the drawing Max made of Goofy's Barnstormer (his favorite ride prior to this trip...it has since changed...stay tuned)! Their interaction was priceless! Cate even enjoyed "taking pictures" with the disposable cameras I had bought them!

After we were done eating, I had arranged for a personalized birthday cake for my niece to celebrate her first birthday. She actually turns one in a couple of weeks, but we thought the "Celebration" atmosphere at the Disney parks and especially Chef Mickey's was the perfect opportunity to do just that! She got really excited hearing the birthday song and Max even helped her blow out the candle! It was a perfect Disney moment!

I would highly recommend going to Chef Mickey's if you are looking for a fun character meal with the classic characters. It IS one of the harder reservations to get, but well worth the effort to plan ahead!

Still ahead...more of our Easter day in Magic Kingdom!

I think my aunt has made plans to do something like this this summer at Disneyland, a character breakfast I think.

It looks like so much fun. those big Mickey gloves are so neat.
