WordFUL Wednesday - Angel Blooms

We moved to this house over two years ago. There are two mini magnolia trees in the front. The last two springs we have been here, they bloom but very sparingly. However, the other day, I couldn't help but notice that one one of the trees alone there were probably 20 blooms. It is gorgeous.

This also struck me as very poignant. My Me-Maw loved magnolias. She grew up in Southern Mississippi and she also had a huge tree in front of her home here in Dallas. Each spring, she was known to clip a bloom off and float it in a shallow bowl on her family room table. The blooms were always so fragrant.

Since her death in January, I can't help but smile every time I have seen a magnolia tree blooming this spring. So, maybe the massive amount of blooms on my two trees this year are a little smile back at me from her!

I miss you Me-Maw!

Love magnolias - what a gorgeous flower. What a nice reminder of your Me-Maw. She was classy, just like the magnolia.

How sweet! I love how things remind us of those we love. I love the smell of magnolias. I have always wanted to live in Southern Mississippi for that reason!!
And so I can have an even bigger southern drawl!!!

Growing up, we had a gigantic magnolia tree in our front yard. I absolutely adored that tree. People would decorate weddings from our tree & I always thought that was neat!

That is a very sweet story & I had never thought of floating the bloom like that. I may just stop by our old homeplace & snatch me up a few blooms! Thank you for sharing.
