Yesterday evening I was folding laundry in Max's bedroom and he came in and said he wanted dinner.
RIGHT. NOW!
I told him he needs to be patient and I would get to it as soon as I had finished laundry. He proceeded to tell me that I needed to HURRY!!! I gently (while biting my tongue) said that if he could help me fold, then it would go faster (not for a second thinking that would work).
Ears perked, he said he would do all of Cate's bibs and his pjs. He did fold them (and wait for this...I didn't even re-fold them) and then said...
"Mommy, I LOVE folding...I will do it everyday for you!"
Yeah, right, wishful thinking!
(Did I forget to mention that I gave him a dollar for his Walt Disney World allowance jar? That was probably the reason he LOVED the folding)
But, hey, he got his dinner faster. I got my folding done faster.
WIN...WIN!
Yep, last night I had my PIE and ICE CREAM, too!

Isn't it nice when the kiddos are helpful! It does make for smoother sailing!
Hey- it works--I am proud of both of you for coming to a compromise even though you are the one that set the limits. He will probably grow up helping as much as his dad does- congrats and the bonus you did not memtion was the fun you had together doing the chore.
Money always motivates mine too!
I hate folding and I'm not good at it either--I should definitely be getting the kids to help me w/ that chore!
What a great helper! Way to make it worth for both of you and definitely take advantage of his interest in folding - it might not last.
Thats so sweet!! I hope he keeps helping!!
Is Max a pin trader yet? That five dollars will almost buy him one! When is your next trip btw? It'd be neat if our plans intersect!
