Postcard from the Edge

When cleaning off my desk a couple of weeks ago, I found this postcard that was on my grandmother's refrigerator from the time I wrote it until we moved her out of her house about 5 years ago.

It was written on the airplane home from Hawaii. We had all gone as a family shortly after my uncle's untimely death. It was so much fun and I wanted to thank Me-Maw and Pa-Paw for this special trip they gave us.

We were on the last Braniff airplane to fly back to Dallas from Honolulu and they gave out these extra large postcards, so I wrote my thank-you on that.

In case you can't make it out, as it was written in pencil and has faded substantially, it reads:

Dear Me-Maw and Pa-Paw, I had fun in Hawaii. I enjoyed it in Maui to. Thank you for taking me to see the luau. I liked the glass bottom boat. The catamaran was fun. Love, Allison

Me-Maw dated it 3-21-82 (so I figured I would post it exactly 27 years later).

It's funny the things that we don't think too much of that become keepsakes to others:) Wonderful memory!

How sweet!!! You are certainly a gracious person and I appreciate you so much! I had a sweet surprise waiting in my mailbox and it made me cry (in a good way, of course). Thank you so much for thinking of me. It put a smile on my face!!!

I'm glad we're friends!
