1. That with a flick of a garbage disposal switch, we can be out $500! Yep, our RARELY used garbage disposal bit the dust this week to the tune of a new one for $500. Since we don't use it, we thought about just getting rid of it and just changing the plumbing under the sink...however, if we ever want to sell the house, we want to maintain the value of the kitchen!
2. I am truly appreciated as a mom and wife! Not that I didn't know that, but sometimes it is nice to get little incentives or, as I now like to call it, my "Mommy Bonus". Matt let me get this gorgeous Brighton purse that I have been wanting for so long!

3. That the whole dreaded menu/grocery planning from last week does pay off monetarily as well as reducing the nightly stress of "what do I make tonight"! Tonight was our first night on the menu...pizza night! I had never made it homemade, but I think Max and I did a bang up job! You may notice I have our weekly menu listed over to the right! Thanks again, Terra!

4. Kids do sleep better if they have comfortable mattresses! We got both kids new mattresses this weekend. Cate's is waiting in the gym for her new furniture. Max's old mattress was mine from my college years and it wasn't even a good mattress when I got it back in 1996. The kids loved trying them out. Don't worry, we weren't those kinds of parents. They weren't jumping from mattress to mattress. Anyway, they were delivered on Sunday. Max actually slept in later that usual. Is that what we needed all along?

Have you learned anything new this week? Head on over to Musings of a Housewife to check out some bits of new found knowledge! Thanks Jo-Lynne for hosting.

You learned some great things last week. (I especially like the purse and pizza night!)
It has been a week of learning :)
Ahh the mattress thing. That's a golden lesson huh? LOL. Your pizza looks scrumptious by the way! I love homemade pizza. Have you ever tried making BBQ pizza? It's really good too.
Blessings,
Kim
I love the purse and the pizza is really making me hungry!!
Have a great day.
Pizza looks delicious - good idea to post it on the side of your blog.
Your pizza made me hungry, your son is adorable on that big ole bed and I am so glad you are trying the menu /shopping thing. it is one thing to plan your menus but when you plan your shopping too that is what REALLY changes thing in your house both in time and money! I hope it continues to work for you!
That pizza looked delicious! Great to know about the mattresses :-)
What a great purse! I think Mommy bonuses should be a regular thing. The pizza looks so good - I bet it was fun to make and eat.
great bag! and that pizza looks YUMMY!
It's nice to get the pat on the back every once in a while for all we do as moms and wives. I haven't made pizza in too long. Maybe that will be dinner tonight!
What a cute purse! And a sweet hubby!! And that pizza looks GOOD. I should try homemade pizza. It always looks intimidating.
I love your new purse! I am trying really hard on the menu planning to help on the grocery budget. It works...I'm just got to be more dedicated.
We broke down and bought our 14 yr. old a new mattress several ,months ago...now, I want to sleep in his bed! Too comfy!
Pizza looks yummy! Kim asked about BBQ pizza...we made a delicious BBQ pizza that our entire family loves and it is super easy.
We do homemade pizza almost every week. The kids love helping with the toppings. It would be much easier to order it but there just aren't any good pizza places around so homemade it is!
That's a very pretty purse. I like the idea of calling it a "Mommy bonus."
I agree that meal planning helps a LOT. The pizza looks delicious!
Alison (spelled a little differently from yours!)
Beautiful purse and the pizza looks yummy!
Came over from SITS
Isn't it funny how we are always learning, even as adults?
It may sound like a lot of work but I have a wonderful recipe for pizza dough. Let me know if you're interested and I'll send it to you. :D
I ADORE Brighton! Their bags are my weakness...
Your new purse is gorgeous!
Visiting from SITS :)
The pizza looks delish and I love the purse, maybe what I've been needing is a mommy bonus.
I read up on the menu planning thing and while I did the first part of her 3 step process, I haven't tried the 2nd two - but I'm going to!! Heck - if it can save money AND the stress of knowing what to make - I'm all over it.
